DL DESIGN STUDIO

PHOENIX, SCOTTSDALE & BEYOND

DL Design Studio was founded on the belief that sophisticated, elegant spaces, where every detail is refined and beautiful, begins with collaboration and empathy. Paul and Rob Polk launched their interior design studio in 2012 in Chicago. Now based in Phoenix, their versatile portfolio spans residential, commercial, hospitality and retail, and blends modern luxury with touches of the whimsical, soulful, and seductive. Rob, a gifted craftsman, leads the custom furnishings arm of the studio, fabricating showstopper artwork and high-end furnishings made from timeless materials: concrete, resin, live edge wood, and brass. Paul and Rob approach every project, whether a room, home, or building, as a unique space to be reimagined and transformed into an authentic expression of beauty.

PAUL POLK

FOUNDER | PRINCIPAL DESIGNER & PROJECT MANAGER

Raised by a creative, artistic mother in Chicago, Paul’s unmistakable design sensibility was apparent even as a young boy - his science posters were as refined as his dress sense. Before establishing his interior design career, he attended law school in Cleveland, followed by a number of years in legal sales and account management, where he gained invaluable business skills.

As principal designer and project manager, Paul immerses himself in every vital part of each project. Analytical and methodical, yet with an instinctual sense of design, Paul has been creating beautiful spaces for over two decades, covering a wide range of sizes and complexities: gourmet kitchens, spa-like bathrooms, single family homes, wellness clinics, and even a 15,000 square foot therapeutic/academic pre-school in the heart of Chicago. Paul forges a strong bond with clients, collaborating end to end, and working in perfect harmony with Rob to achieve cohesive interiors with clean lines, sophisticated textures, and often edgy and dramatic undertones.

ROBERT POLK

CO-FOUNDER | LEAD DESIGNER & CUSTOM FURNISHINGS DESIGNER

Growing up in Matteson, a village just south of Chicago, Rob learned all the trades from his father, at first helping with small DIY projects and then as his apprentice on multiple additions to their family home. From his mother, Rob learned about textiles and sewing, even making intricate costumes from a young age. Rob studied culinary arts in college, but he had a strong desire to help his community and so he became a fireman and paramedic for many years, learning and perfecting the problem-solving skills that he applies to the studio’s design process today.

Before relocating to Phoenix, Rob experimented with different materials in their high-rise Chicago apartment, fabricating meticulously crafted objects for the home. Upon relocating to Phoenix, Rob’s hobby manifested into something much bigger, and today he applies all the skills and experience he has gained throughout his life to produce handcrafted art and furnishings that their clients love.
